Is Vinyl Flooring different today than it was 20 years ago?
Yes! Vinyl, or many times referred to as linoleum, has a much better reputation today than it did 20 years ago. It's a great alternative if you think tile is too expensive, cold, and hard to clean. Manufacturers today are applying scotchgard for stains and anti-bacterial as well as a nylon-aluminum oxide reinforced surface that offers warranties as high as 20 years!
What are the advantages to vinyl tile?
Vinyl tile is a great option for those looking to find an alternate to tile. They are a limestone composite, come in similar tile widths, and can be installed with or without grout. Standard vinyl tile size is 12" x 12" and is available in low, medium and high gloss.
What is the best way to clean vinyl flooring?
Too infrequent cleaning and over polishing are the two greatest problems of maintaining vinyl flooring. Grit particles have an abrasive effect on the floor's surface and these particles can make small cuts that dull the surface of the floor. Sweeping or vacuuming the floor regularly can precent surface wear and damage to the flooring. An occasional cleaning with a mild cleaning solution along with sweeping up dirt is a great way to keep vinyl flooring in good condition.
